After sweeping the individual and team awards for the first two tournaments, the No. 1 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils enter the Fighting Irish Classic with plenty of momentum.
The last time ASU won three straight tournaments was when they won the Lamkin Grips Collegiate, National Invitational and the ASU Thunderbird Invitational last spring. ASU won two of those three tournaments' individual medal, while tying for first in the other. Senior Alex del Rey (75-64-71) had a phenomenal first tournament at the Mea Lanakila, which resulted in a tie for first place. He then put on an encore performance (67-64-66) that was even better by winning the Trinity Forest Invitational.
THE SUN DEVIL LINEUP: The Sun Devils will toss a lineup out there consisting of Cameron Sisk, Chun An Yu, Won Jun Lee, James Leow and Blake Wagoner. Both Ryggs Johnston and Mason Andersen will play as individuals. ASU will play with Notre Dame and North Carolina for the first 36 holes on Monday.
THE FIELD: ASU will be going against Boston College, Georgia Southern, Iowa, Iowa State, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi St. North Carolina, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Toledo, and UMKC at the Warren Golf Course (par 71/7,023 yards).
NO. 1: Arizona State rose to the top of the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll on Sept. 27 after winning its first two tournaments. Other Pac-12 schools include Washington (8), Arizona (13), USC (19) and Stanford (21).
GREAT SHOWING IN ASIA: While the Sun Devil were winning the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas (Sept. 22-24), three Sun Devils were in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championships held Sept. 26-29 in Shanghai. Chun An Yu (73-69-70-68) and James Leow (71-68-72-69) both finished at 8-under 280 and tied for fifth while Won Jun Lee (69-74-66-74) finished at 5-under 283 and tied for 12th. The top 66 made the cut in the 159-player field.
SPAIN!: ASU is without one of its seniors in Notre Dame as Alex del Rey is competing in the Spanish Open Oct. 3-6 in Madrid. He has two individual wins already this fall.
OFF TO GREAT START: Sophomore Cameron Sisk -- the 2019 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year -- is off to a fantatistic start in 2019-20. He won the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sept. 13-15 for his first collegiate victory.
