STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 8 Sun Devil Women's Golf team remains firmly in contention for the team title after the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Condoleezza Rice at Stanford Golf Course.
Freshman Linn Grant (-7/135) is quickly proving to be one of the toughest competitors at the collegiate level, as she is tied for the individual lead after two rounds at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Grant (-4/67) had the second-best round of the day and set a new career-low for the second consecutive day. She enters the final round tied with Arizona's Vivian Hou for the individual lead. Olivia Mehaffey (T-12th) and Raquel Olmos (T-22nd) join Grant in the Top-25 on the player leaderboard. Sophomore Alessandra Fanali (-1/70) moved up 28 spots today thanks to a strong effort on the back nine.
INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
Arizona State (-5/563) currently sits in second place in the team standings, three strokes back of first-place No. 15 Oregon (-8/560). The Sun Devils are ahead of fellow Pac-12 schools No. 10 Arizona, No. 1 Stanford, and No. 3 USC, who round out the Top-5. The 285 posted by the Maroon & Gold this afternoon was tied for the fourth-best round of the day, as the site of the 2020 Pac-12 Championship is testing the field. ASU is one of only five teams among 17 at the Stanford Intercollegiate that are under par and 11 teams are +10 or higher through two rounds.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"We were a little more up and down today, but overall a solid day and we are still in the hunt to win this tournament," Coach Farr-Kaye remarked. "Everyone is contributing and competing hard. Linn Grant is playing especially well. We are learning and getting better every day. We want to go out tomorrow and have our best day of the year."
FRONT NINE
ASU started their round on hole 10, with Alexandra Forsterling recording the first birdie of the day on 12. Raquel Olmos and Alessandra Fanali each carded a birdie on 13. Linn Grant started to heat up on the 15th hole, as she would go on to birdie three of her last four holes on the front nine. Fanali matched Grant with a birdie on 13, kick starting her best stretch of the tournament to this point. Olivia Mehaffey carried over her consistent play from yesterday, making par on eight of nine holes on the front nine.
BACK NINE
Linn Grant played mistake-free golf on the back nine, matching her front nine total by going two-under over her final nine holes to earn a share of the individual lead. She birdied the second and fourth hole, part of a stretch in which she birdied was five-under over eight holes. Like Grant, Fanali was also two-under on the back nine, showing an improved understanding of the golf course. She carded three birdies during a five-hole stretch, a big factor in her moving up 28 spots on the leaderboard in one day. One of those birdies was on seven, as Olmos and Forsterling joined her in accomplishing the feat. Mehaffey solidified a spot in the Top-15 with an even back nine.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Sun Devils will compete in the round three of the Stanford Intercollegiate with plenty at stake. Only three strokes off the lead, Coach Farr-Kaye's squad is ready to battle on the final day. The field will underdgo an 8:30 a.m. MST shotgun start on the final day. Arizona State will be paired will Oregon and Arizona in the morning. Here is how they will line-up: Alexandra Forsterling – Hole 3
Alessandra Fanali – Hole 2A
Raquel Olmos – Hole 2B
Olivia Mehaffey – Hole 1A
Linn Grant – Hole 1B
