Arizona State (-6/278) leads host school and No. 1-ranked Stanford by two strokes and sit four strokes ahead of No. 3 USC and No. 15 Oregon. The 278 represents the lowest score vs. par in a round by the program since the first round of the 2018 Mason Rudolph Championship. It is also the best score vs. par in a round by the Sun Devils at the Stanford Intercollegiate since the first round of the 2010 edition. Coach Farr-Kaye's squad went an incredible 12-under par on par-five holes, the best score by any team at the tournament.

COACH'S TAKE
"I am very happy with how we finished," Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "We had a bit of an up and down day today, but played well on the back side. We have a few things to clean up for tomorrow and will be back at it bright and early on Saturday ready to compete for the finish."

Olivia Mehaffey recorded her first eagle of the 2019-20 campaign, part of a five-under effort by the Sun Devils on the first hole of the tournament. It was their best score vs. par of the day on any hole, as Alessandra Fanali, Raquel Olmos, and Alexandra Forsterling all birdied it as well. For Forsterling, it was the one of two birdies over the first four holes as she got off on the right foot. Linn Grant took care of business on six and seven, registering back-to-back birdies to move back under par. Fanali and Mehafffey joined Grant in recording a birdie on seven, as the Sun Devils began to find their rhythm.
BACK NINE
Arizona State combined to go three-under on the back nine thanks to 12 birdies, with three different Sun Devils shooting two-under par or better over the final nine holes. Olivia Mehaffey led the way with four birdies, putting together a magnificent stretch of golf starting on the seventh hole. She went on to card six birdies over her next 10 holes to skyrocket up the leaderboard, finishing with her lowest round of the season (70). Mehaffey took advantage of par-five opportunities, going five-under in the first round on such chances, the best score of any individual. Raquel Olmos played mistake-free golf, settling into a groove on a bogey-free back nine. She shot a season-best 68, nearly matching her 67 in the third round of last year's Stanford Intercollegiate. It is the fifth time in Olmos' ASU career that she has shot in the 60's.
Linn Grant continued to build momentum after a strong finish to the front nine, as the freshman birdied three of the first five holes on the back nine. Grant shot a career-low 68 and was the only Sun Devil to finish both the front and back nine under par. She has now shot at or below par in six of her first seven collegiate rounds. Grant did a lot of her damage on par-four holes, finishing two-under on the day, the best of any individual. Alexandra Forsterling ended her back nine on a high note, carding birdies on 15 and 16 to move into the Top-25.Give it up for this pair of Sun Devils ??????
