PHOENIX– The Sun Devil Baseball team will cap off its Fall schedule with an exclusive exhibition contest against the U.S. National Team at 6:30 p.m. AZT on Friday, Oct. 25 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix. The event will also serve to benefit members of the military and their families.
Tickets are now on sale to the public, starting at $5 for general admission seating and $10 for reserved seating. Sun Devil Athletics is matching every purchased ticket with a complimentary ticket to a member of the military and their family.
Team USA is led by former New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi and will feature a roster full of players that will represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The Sun Devils will be led by Spencer Torkelson, a two-time member of the USA Baseball Collegiate National team. With 48 career homers in his career, Torkelson needs just nine to surpass Bob Horner's long-standing school record of 56 set in the 1970s.
Torkelson returns after a unanimous All-American campaign in 2019, making him the first Sun Devil Baseball two-time All-American since Mike Leake and Jason Kipnis in 2008-09.
The junior slugger is widely regarded as a Top-Five prospect in the 2020 MLB Professional Baseball Draft and numerous outlets have projected him to be the possible No. 1 overall pick of the class.
Torkelson is joined on the 2020 Sun Devil roster by his USA Collegiate National teammate and All-Pac-12 shortstop Alika Williams. Returning Pac-12 All-Conference selections Gage Workman, Drew Swift, Brady Corrigan and Trevor Hauver also return roster for the upcoming 2020 campaign.
