The Arizona State men's basketball team fell at the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday afternoon 85-71, splitting their first conference road trip of the season.

In the contest, Rob Edwards achieved 1,000 career points behind 13 points and three triples made.

The Devils (11-5, 2-2 Pac-12) and Cardinal (8-8, 1-3 Pac-12) exchanged runs in the first half, bouncing the advantage back and forth in a game that featured 11 lead changes and 18 ties. Down seven, Luguentz Dort drilled three consecutive three-point baskets that gave ASU its first lead of the game with 12:14 remaining in the opening frame.

Dort scored 16 in total and has notched double-digits in every but one game this season. Edwards hit a triple just before the horn to have the Devils down 40-38 at halftime.

The difference came in the second half. Stanford came out firing, hitting threes and getting to the basket in front of their home crowd. It scored 10 unanswered out of the break, capped off by a Ryan Cormac three-point basket.

All season long, Remy Martin has been the player to spark the offense when ASU needs it most. It was no different Saturday, as Martin hit a catch-and-shoot triple and scored all of his eight points in just over four minutes after struggling in the first half.

Sparky trailed 54-59 with just over 10 play following an offensive rebound and put back by Kimani Lawrence. The basket was two of his 10 points in the contest on 4-of-7 shooting.

Stanford went on another run, this time being too much for the Sun Devils to climb back from with the clock under five minutes. The Cardinal pushed a 17-5 run and jumped to its largest lead 19 with 1:45 remaining.

Zylan Cheatham added eight points on 4-of-9 shooting while securing 12 rebounds, two steals and four assists.

The Sun Devils are back home on Thursday, Jan. 17 against Oregon State. The 8 p.m. MT tip-off from Wells Fargo Arena can be viewed on FS1 and heard on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
