LAFAYETTE, La. – Sun Devil men's tennis continues their fall tennis season this weekend, travelling to the University of Louisiana for the 2019 John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic. The Classic features three teams ranked in the Oracle/ITA top-25, and six in the top-50.
Representatives from No. 6 Baylor, No. 22 Oklahoma State and No. 24 Arizona State will make the trip to the Ragin' Cajuns, also joined by No. 34 South Florida, No. 35 Ole Miss, No. 48 LSU, Rice and host Louisiana. Freshman Christian Lerby and senior Makey Rakotomalala will be at the tournament, with the men pairing together for doubles play while also entering as individuals for singles play.
Lerby is a Netherlands native with a few ITF pro points already under his belt and two ITF wins. He also holds a 72-50 record in singles and 42-52 record in doubles on the junior circuit. Rakotomalala is one of two seniors on the roster for Sun Devil men's tennis and looking to build on the success he experienced in 2019.
Both men's first serve on singles play is set for 8:30 a.m. CT on Friday, with second round/first round consolation play following at 2 p.m. A full first day finishes up with the first round of doubles play as well.
Saturday brings more consolation singles and doubles play as well as both semifinal matches. The tournament finishes up on Sunday with the remaining consolation matches, and the singles and doubles final.
