TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Lacrosse Head Coach Tim McCormack and his coaching staff have announced the 2019 Fall Schedule.
Arizona State will participate in four different events during the fall, a period that gives the coaching staff a chance to evaluate the progress and development of the student-athletes. The new coaching staff is taking advantage of this valuable opportunity to get more familiar with their team, as they have put together a challenging set of Fall matchups. In addition to the competition against fellow Division I schools, the Sun Devils will host the inaugural Alumni & Friends game in Tempe.
"We are very excited to announce our Fall schedule," Head Coach Tim McCormack remarked. "We will get tested from some of the best teams on the west coast this fall with trips out to San Diego and Denver."
2019 Sun Devil Lacrosse Fall Schedule The Sun Devils open up their Fall campaign with a trip to San Diego for the San Diego State Play Day. Facing off with three schools from California, the Maroon & Gold will get their first opportunity to take the field on October 6. The day begins with a game against Pac-12 opponent USC, a team the Sun Devils played twice last season. The Trojans offer a stiff test, as they were an NCAA Tournament team last year and finished at No. 16 in the final Inside Lacrosse Poll of 2019. Later in the day, ASU will take on Fresno State in their second game of the SDSU Play Day. To cap off the event in a rematch of last year's final regular season game, the Sun Devils go up against the host school San Diego State. ASU picked up a thrilling 13-11 victory over the Aztecs in Tempe on Senior Day last April.
"We are hosting a home event where we will play against our "Alumni and Friends", which will consist of friends of our program and staff as well as alumni who graduated last season," Coach McCormack mentioned.
Arizona State enjoys a brief break from action before heading to Colorado for the final weekend of the Fall schedule. On the first stop of the trip, the Sun Devils will compete at the Denver Play Day, taking place on Saturday, October 26. Coach McCormack's team faces off with a pair of opponents that finished the season in the Top-20 of the 2019 Inside Lacrosse's rankings, giving his young team a chance to test themselves against two of the nation's top programs. ASU gets a crack at the host school Denver to start the day, a team that finished No. 9 in the country and made a run to the NCAA Quarterfinals a season ago. Following that matchup, the Sun Devils tangle with Pac-12 foe Colorado, a team they saw twice last season. The final matchup of the day pits Arizona State against Pac-12 rival Oregon. ASU made program history in the 2019 season series with the Ducks, sweeping the two games between the two teams, giving the program its first sweep of a Pac-12 school. Rounding out the trip to the Centennial State and the Fall schedule, the Sun Devils once again take on Colorado in an single exhibition contest on Sunday, October 27.
"Playing against this talent will help us come together as a group and prepare us for the spring," Coach McCormack added.

New Sun Devil Lacrosse Head Coach Tim McCormack and his coaching staff, Assistant Coaches Dorrien Van Dyke and Nicole Graziano, bring a unique blend of coaching and playing experience. A combination of the continuous improvement by key returners and the addition of several freshman who figure to have an instant impact, the coaching staff is excited about the potential of a program in just its third year at the Division I level. Arizona State looks to build off the work they put in during fall practice and continue to develop prior to the 2020 season.??SUN DEVILS WIN! ??@kyliekroeger BURIES THE GAME-WINNER in DOUBLE OVERTIME! @TheSunDevils WIN! #ForksUp pic.twitter.com/eS88xtETr3
