TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State redshirt sophomore placekicker Cristian Zendejas was named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Zendejas was also named one of three "Stars of the Week" by the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award.

Filling in for junior Brandon Ruiz for the second straight week, Zendejas provided all of ASU's points over the first three-plus quarters of its 19-7 win over Sacramento State on Friday. Zendejas connected on all four of his field goal attempts (36, 26, 35, 26) in helping the Sun Devils get out to a 12-0 lead. Zendejas, who also made his only PAT attempt, became the first Sun Devil to make four field goals in a game since 2016 Lou Groza award winner and current Arizona Cardinals placekicker Zane Gonzalez accomplished the feat in 2016. The four field goals are tied for sixth in ASU's single-game annals.

This is the second straight week a Sun Devil has earned the Pac-12's special teams weekly award. Last week punter Michael Turk earned the honor in addition to be named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for setting an NCAA single-game record for punting average.

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week." The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954.

Season tickets, three-game mini plans and single-game tickets for ASU's next three home games – vs. Colorado (Sept. 21), vs. Washington State (Oct. 12) and vs. USC (Nov. 9) – are currently on sale and can be purchased at www.sundeviltickets.com or by contacting the Sun Devil Athletics Ticket Office at 480-727-0000.

The Sun Devils (2-0) return to action on Saturday (4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. MST) when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on No. 18 Michigan State (FOX/Sun Devil Radio Network).
