SAN FRANCISCO – Senior libero Courtney Leffel is this week's Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after a stand-out weekend for Arizona State volleyball at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup, leading ASU to three wins.
This is the first defensive player of the week nod for the Sun Devils since Halle Harker earned the honor back in September 2017, and it is the fifth defensive weekly award in program history. For Leffel, this is her first weekly award.
Leffel had an outstanding weekend to start the 2019 season. She had a career-high 39 digs in the five-set win over LSU, which was the ninth most in a match in ASU history, seventh most in the rally-scoring era. Additionally, she notched 23 digs against Houston and 21 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, both winning efforts. She was named to the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup All-Tournament Team.
The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week was Savannah Rennie from Cal, and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week was Kylie Robinson from Oregon. For the full Pac-12 release, head to their website.
