TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State volleyball head coach Sanja Tomasevic has announced the hire of Ryan Leary as the director of operations, joining the 2019 staff.
"We are excited to have him here," Tomasevic said. "He is very detail-oriented and is someone who has been around successful programs. He was at Kansas and learned from Coach B (Ray Bechard), one of the best ones in the game, someone I have a ton of respect for. I'm excited to have him here, especially to help us out for this part of the season when we are on the road a lot."
Leary joins the Sun Devils after serving as a graduate assistant for the Virginia Commonwealth volleyball program. He was part of back-to-back Atlantic 10 regular season championships for the Rams. At VCU, he earned his master's degree in sport leadership.
While earning his undergraduate degree in sport management with a minor in business at Kansas, Leary was the head student manager for the volleyball team for three seasons. After three years, he transitioned into a role as the student intern director of operations, which he did for one season. During his time with the Jayhawks, Kansas earned its first sweet sixteen appearance in 2013 and a trip to the final four in 2015.
Leary is a native of Lawrence, Kansas.
