PETER VANDER STOEP
Get to know new Arizona State gymnastics assistant coach Kristina Peel through our Q&A!

What drew you to ASU?

ASU is a fantastic university; it has incredible student-athletes, is an ideal place to live, and is an overall great opportunity to be a part of something special.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be and why?
Learn to speak another language (Or two!), so I could fully immerse and experience another culture.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?
Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway

What is the last book you read?
"The Name of The Wind" by Patrick Rothsfuss (For the second time!)

What is a movie you can watch over and over again?
"Notting Hill"

What is one place you really want to visit?
Everywhere! Having the opportunity to travel so much in my career has made me really appreciate any new place big or small, near or far.

Who is your favorite athlete of all time?
Simone Biles

How did you get into stunts?
The very first show I ever worked on was the gymnastics TV show "Make It Or Break It." The other stunt doubles came from all different collegiate gymnastics teams and became some of my closest friends. That show introduced me to the world of stunts and showed me what I wanted to do with my career!

What was your favorite stunt project, and why?
"Game of Thrones." The scale of the production was so incredible, from the sets, costumes, and locations. Filming in Northern Ireland, Spain, and traveling around Europe was definitely a life-changing experience.

How did gymnastics set you up for a career as a stunt woman?
The skill set alone helped with the physicality of the job and the ability to pick up new and different skills quickly. The work ethic and mentality of the sport of gymnastics really helped in building a career and name for myself in the film industry.

How do you plan to incorporate what you learned during your stunt career into your coaching career?
With the years of experience working in production, learning the process of creation, seeing how every small detail is important in creating a big picture, I believe those life lessons and experience can absolutely relate to building a successful gymnastics program.
