TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State gymnastics' Anne Kuhm earned 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team honors, the first Gym Devil to be an academic All-American since 1998.
The number of academic honors for Kuhm grows with this nod. She was named the 2019 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year for gymnastics, as well as being named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team. Additionally, she was on the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Women's At-Large Team.
Kuhm joins four former gymnasts who were also academic All-Americans. The last time ASU gymnastics had an academic All-American was in 1998 when Lisa Vincijanovic was honored. She was also not the only Sun Devil named an at-large All-American. Grant House from men's swimming was named to the second team. Additionally, Hunter Bishop from baseball was also a second team All-American.
The senior had another solid senior season for Arizona State. She helped the Gym Devils finish the year with a winning record (11-10) for the first time since 2014 and advance to NCAA regionals. Her best meet of the year was against Oregon State when she had a season-high 39.325 all-around total. She also won a vault title at Texas Woman's University. In all but two meets, she has been an all-around gymnast for ASU.
Of the honorees on the women's side, 42 of the 45 members of the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Women's At- Large teams achieved at least a 3.90 GPA, with 33 student-athletes posting a 4.00 GPA (or better) during their undergraduate and/or graduate careers.
