SEATTLE – Spencer Torkelson knocked his 14thhome run of the season but the Sun Devil Baseball team fell into a deep hole it couldn't climb out of in a 10-6 loss to Washington on Friday in Seattle.

Four Sun Devils logged multi-hit performances including Torkelson, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Trevor Hauver, Alika Williams and Lyle Lin also added two hits each.

ASU was put in a position to rally thanks largely to the efforts of freshman reliever Will Levine. After starter Alec Marsh was chased after two tumultuous innings, Levine entered and gave the Sun Devils 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. The frosh allowed just two hits and struck out one as he kept ASU within striking distance for the remainder of the game.

The Huskies jumped all over ASU starter Alec Marsh, scoring nine runs in the first two innings as the Sun Devils fell into a 9-2 hole after two innings.

Unfazed, ASU came roaring back in the fourth. Three doubles from Gage Workman, Lyle Lin and Trevor Hauver plated a pair of runs to bring ASU back within 9-4. Torkelson did the rest with one swing, a two-run shot on the first pitch he saw in the fourth to opposite right field for his 14th dinger of the season – bringing ASU within three runs.

Unfortunately, that would be the extent of the ASU rally as the Devils threatened several times over the final five frames but couldn't find the big hit to close the deficit.

ASU returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. PT in Seattle looking to square the series. The game will be available online through the Washington Live Stream and available on the airwaves on NBC Sports Radio 1060 AM.
