LAS VEGAS - Members of the Arizona State wrestling team kicked off postseason competition this weekend at the 2019 U.S. Open and UWW Junior Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Three athletes competed in the UWW Junior Freestyle division, with two claiming berths to the 2019 Junior World Team Trials.
Four more Sun Devils competed in the Senior Men's Freestyle division. Junior Anthony Valencia went 5-1 on the weekend and claimed third place in the 74 kg weight class, qualifying for a sport at the 2019 Senior World Team Trials in Raleigh, N.C. next month.
In the UWW Junior Freestyle division, newcomer Jacori Teemer took fifth place in the 70 kg weight class with a 5-2 record to earn his spot at the trials in Raleigh. Sophomore Kordell Norfleet went 4-3 in the 86 kg class, claiming eighth place and his own spot at trials.
