SEATTLE – Arizona State won the doubles point for the third-straight outing, but the 13th-ranked Washington Huskies walked away with the match win Sunday in Seattle.

"It's certainly a tough loss, but there's no doubt this match was a lot closer than the 4-1 score indicates," coach Sheila McInerney said. "We had some momentum after winning the doubles point and Savannah and Tereza winning their first sets."

ASU's two ranked doubles tandems were the ones who locked up the doubles point for the Sun Devils with wins on courts one and three.

No. 65 Alicea/Hampton was the first pairing off the courts, defeating their Husky opposition in an impressive 6-2 decision. Court two would go to the Huskies in a 6-3 decision, leaving court one's marquee matchup as the deciding match for the doubles point.

The court one dual pitted two ranked duos against each other in ASU's second-ranked squad John-Baptiste/Hattingh and Washington's No. 42 Fung/Zupancic.

Down early, John-Baptiste/Hattingh fought back to knot the match up at 5-5 before the Devils duo rattled off back-to-back wins in the final two games to win the match and clinch the doubles point.

The Dogs would tie it up with a win on court two in singles play, then make it 2-1 in favor of the hosts after getting a result on court six.

The remaining four courts would all evolve into barnburners with every court going the distance to determine a victor.

Washington would go on to win court four and court five both in three sets to seal the win and snap the Devils' hot-streak.

"Give a lot of credit to Washington for the way they turned these matches around," McInerney said. "I'm proud of the way we competed, and we made it a dogfight until the end. I'm excited to get back home for our last three regular season matches."

ASU will return to the Whiteman Tennis Center next Sunday for a match against Denver at 9 a.m. PT, looking to start a new win-streak as it heads into the homestretch of the season.
