FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sun Devil diving finished up the last day of the 2019 Zone E Championships, this time sending Youssef Selim and David Hoffer to compete in the platform event. Both men earned a qualifying spot this afternoon in tower to go 3-for-3 in qualifying for the 2019 Men's Swimming and Diving National Championship.
Beginning the afternoon with a preliminary round, both men sat in a tie for third through one dive and then moved into first and second through two. Neither ever faltered from qualifying for the finals right from the beginning, as Selim took second in the preliminary round while Hoffer finished not far behind in fourth place.
The men only needed a top-12 finish to qualify for NCAAs, as both had already taken a qualifying spot in a previous event.
Finishing well above that, Selim took second with a combined score of 729.55 and Hoffer finished in third with a score of 657.65.
They join Ashley McCool in divers qualifying for the National Championship as McCool qualified in one meter and three meter springboard in the first two days of competition.
