TEMPE, Ariz. – After having not played a game in their home pool in just over a month, #9 Sun Devil Water Polo returns home for a top-10 matchup, hosting #2 Stanford on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 1 p.m. in their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) opener.
After hosting their 15-match Cross-Conference Challenge in early February, ASU hit the road on two separate occasions to the state of California, first at UCSD's Triton Invitational in San Diego (Feb. 9-10) before UC Irvine's Barbara Kalbus Invitational in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA (Feb. 22-24).
Of note, the Sun Devils earned two top-10 wins over then-No. 7/9 UCSB to take the regular season series from the Gauchos. ASU also earned other top-25 wins vs. No. 22 San Diego State (Feb. 9) and No. 13 LMU (Feb. 10) since playing at home.
Maud Koopman (33) and Bente Rogge (32) lead the team in scoring while newcomer Bridget Johnston has seen most of the action in the net for the Sun Devils with 45 of 57 quarters played. Koopman and Rogge each have five three-plus goal games this season.
Koopman is currently seventh on the all-time career goals list with 155 to her credit.
