PALOS VERDES, Calif. – On the final day of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, No. 8 Sun Devil Women's Golf added further improvement from their day two score, cutting another seven shots off their team score between days two and three.
ASU had the fifth-lowest round amongst the 16-team field, which included six of the top-10, on Tuesday.
The Sun Devils finished ahead of No. 5 Alabama and just three shots away from No. 3 Florida.
"I am very proud of how this team bounced back the last two days after such a rough start the first day," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "It was a really good finish for Olivia and Alexandra as well, especially because today was some of the toughest conditions of the tournament with high winds and cold. We have 10 days before we leave again so we will be working on a few things that we need to improve upon."
Olivia Mehaffey was the top Sun Devil finisher individually, finishing +2 on Tuesday and +1 on Monday. Alexandra Försterling tied her best collegiate round on Tuesday, shooting a 2-under 69 to move up 30 spots on the leaderboard.
Raquel Olmos also improved on Tuesday while Sofia Anokhina and Alessandra Fanali, in her first collegiate tournament, rounded out the Sun Devils' lineup.
The Sun Devils have just under two weeks to prepare for their next road trip, heading east to the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship in New Orleans Feb. 17-19.
