Cathedral City, Calif. -- The 13th- ranked Arizona State softball team capped the 2019 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with an 11-1 run-rule victory over Cal Poly Sunday afternoon.

Freshman pitcher Abby Andersen spun another gem in the circle for ASU, holding the Mustangs to just one-run on four-hits while striking out three batters in her second win of the weekend.

The Sun Devil offense wasted no time, with four runs coming across in just the first inning of play. With runners on first and second and just one out in the inning, sophomore first baseman DeNae Chatman came through with an RBI-single to put ASU up, 1-0.

Junior catcher Maddi Hackbarth broke the game open just one batter later, blasting her sixth home run of the season to make it a 4-0 Sun Devil lead heading to the bottom of the inning.

The Mustangs would try to respond, but a one-out single would be erased with a pair of ground-outs to push the game to the second with ASU still out front.

After a scoreless top of the second, the Cal Poly offense would counter in the home-half plating a run by way of two hits and an error to make it a 4-1 game after two.

Senior outfielder Morgan Howe got the Sun Devils back in business in the top of the third, lacing a double into center field. Chatman would keep things moving, blasting an RBI-double to push the lead to 5-1.

The offense would continue to roll in the fourth inning as Howe connected on yet another RBI-single, pushing the ASU lead to 7-1 after four.

The Sun Devils offense would explode in the fifth inning, plating five-runs on five-hits, including a bases loaded triple by Kindra Hackbarth to lift ASU to the final, 11-1,

At the plate, seven different Sun Devils carded a hit in the win, including four players turning in multi-hit performances. Senior outfielder Morgan Howe led the way, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.
