TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil women's basketball junior forward Jamie Ruden was named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® VIII Second Team for the second straight year, according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A member of ASU's Barrett Honors College, Ruden maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA and is pursuing a degree in Psychology.
Ruden, who was also named to the Pac-12's All-Academic First Team last season, has played in every game this season and is currently fifth on the team in 3-pointers (15). Ruden has come on strong recently, having connected on 51.5 percent of her shots in ASU's last eight games. Last month she scored 12 points in ASU's near upset of then-No. 5 Oregon
One of ASU's top shooters from long distance, Ruden finished second on the team in triples last season (27), scoring in double figures 14 times.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Winners of their last five games, the Sun Devils, currently No. 17 in the AP poll, return to action on Friday night (7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT) when they play at Cal. The game can be seen on Pac-12 Network and heard on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060.
