NEW ORLEANS – After the first 18 holes of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship, junior All-American turned in the lowest scorecard, a one-under 71.
"We really had a difficult front nine today," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We played with a lot more confidence on the back nine. We are a young team and are learning more about ourselves every day. I believe in this team and I know they are capable of playing some great golf."
Mehaffey is currently tied for seventh overall after birdieing five holes including three of six holes between 10 and 15.
Freshman Alexandra Försterling also sits inside the top-25 (T23) after a 2-over 74, her third-lowest collegiate score to date.
The Sun Devils will tee off Monday between 10:20-10:52 am CT (9:20-9:52 am MT) with SMU and UC Davis.
