TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 10 Sun Devil wrestling team had four individual victories but fell to the No. 5 Missouri Tigers, 30-12, Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
With a decision at 165, No. 4 Josh Shields highlighted the action, securing his 12th consecutive victory dating back to Dec. 30.
The Sun Devils got on the board as Brandon Courtney (125) earned a sudden victory decision over Dack Punke, giving ASU a 3-0 lead in the meet.
The Tigers took the next three bouts and pulled ahead, 15-3, with falls at 133 and 141 lbs. and a decision at 149 lbs.
No. 17 Christian Pagdilao (157) earned the next victory for the Sun Devils with a 5-4 decision over No. 15 Jarrett Jacques, bringing the score to 15-6 in favor of Missouri heading into the break.
Shields earned another three points for ASU, taking a 7-3 decision victory over No. 14 Connor Flynn. After dropping the bout at 174 lbs., Jacen Petersen defeated Taylor Watkins in a 4-2 decision to give the Sun Devils their final victory of the night.
The Sun Devils stay home for their final two matches of the regular season, first vs. CSU Bakersfield Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1:30 pm, which will serve as the team's annual MMA meet.
