GOLD CANYON, Ariz. – To open the spring season, No. 8 Sun Devil Women's Golf hosted Denver and Georgia in a one-round event and the Sun Devils posted the lowest team score of the three teams.
 
Freshman Alexandra Försterling posted the lowest score among all three teams, tying her collegiate low from the first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate in the fall. Fellow freshman Alessandra Fanali made her collegiate debut after joining the team in early January.
 
Junior Olivia Mehaffey shot the second-lowest score for the Devils (71) while, as a team, ASU shot a 287, their lowest team score since the second and third rounds of the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 20-21).
 
ASU posted a score three strokes lower than Georgia (290) and six lower than Denver (293).
 
The Sun Devils head to California starting next weekend for their first tournament of the spring, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Feb. 3-5 in Palos Verdes, Calif.
