TEMPE, Ariz. – As chosen by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) head women's water polo coaches, the conference has announced the preseason coaches poll and the Sun Devils have been picked fifth in the nation's best collegiate water polo conference.

Since the first year of the NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship (2001), the national champion has come from the MPSF every single season in UCLA (2001, 2003, 2005-09), Stanford (2002, 2011-12, 2014-15, 2017), or USC (2004, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2018). This extremely tough conference schedule tests and prepares the Sun Devils extremely well.

Arizona State had one of their best finishes in program history a season ago, finishing the season at No. 5, tied for the second-highest finish in the poll in program history. ASU also defeated four teams that competed at 2018 NCAA Championships.

The Sun Devils open the season this weekend, Jan. 12-13, with the ASU Invitational #1, hosting Marist at 9:30 am Saturday in their first game of the season. Saturday will be at Sun Devil Fitness Complex while Sunday is at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The full schedule can be found here: https://thesundevils.com/schedule.aspx?path=wwpolo and all home matches are free to the public.
