TEMPE, Ariz. – After Sun Devil triathlon had to cancel their trip last weekend due to the impending hurricane, they gear up to compete this Sunday (Sept. 23, 7 am PT) at the West Regional Qualifier in Longmont, Colo., now their first of two opportunities to qualify for November's national championship in Tempe.

The race will take place as part of the 11th annual Oktoberfest Triathlon in and around Longmont's Union Reservoir, which marks the end of Colorado's triathlon season. Across the entire race, there will be 14 total waves, with triathletes of all ages, and the collegiate women's draft legal race will be wave two (47 total athletes wearing white swim caps).

Because the Sun Devils had to cancel last weekend's trip and opportunity to qualify for nationals, they are able to race eight competitors instead of the usual seven – Charlotte Ahrens, Katie Gorczyca, Hannah Henry, Olivia Jenks, Rebecca Naughton, Sarah Quintero, Kyla Roy, and Kira Stanley.
