GOLD COAST, Australia – In the finale of the 2018 World Triathlon Series at the World Triathlon Grand Final, Sun Devils Hannah Henry and Audrey Ernst finished 12th and 24th, respectively, in the 55-participant field of the Junior Elite women's race.

In the midst of the bike and run part of the course, 40 different athletes, including Ernst and Henry, were separated by a total 41 second span.

Henry, the second top Canadian finisher, finished 12th overall (1:00.19), her highest placement throughout the race, also 12th on the second and third bike laps. In an extremely tight race, she finished just three seconds outside the top-10 and 45 seconds off the podium.

HUGE congrats to you both!!! #GoDevils #ASU #ITU https://t.co/60Z8NQ80Ea

Ernst, finishing 24th overall (1:01.26), was the second-fastest American and was the top American coming out of the second transition between the bike and run, climbing as high as 21st overall. Ernst finished just 14 seconds outside the top-20.

Onto the run! All three Americans are less than 30 seconds back from the leaders, but will need to turn on the gas now. Ernst is the first U.S. woman out of transition, Horner and Cridge not far behind. #wtsgoldcoast pic.twitter.com/DLyZhqrbNN

Henry and Ernst add to their impressive international racing career with the race, the duo finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the Junior Elite race at the Brasilia CAMTRI Triathlon American Championships in June.
