Barranquilla, Colombia - Arizona State sophomore pitcher, G Juarez claimed her second gold medal in as many summers, as the Puerto Rico National Team defeated Mexico, 4-2, Thursday evening in the Grand Final game of the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The gold medal marks Juarez's second in international play, after claiming a gold medal last summer with the USA Jr. Women's National Team at last summer's World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Women's World Championship in Florida.

Juarez appeared in three games for Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games, throwing 6.1 innings at the event, en rout to a 1-0-0 record. The lefty, who rang up over 300 strikeouts in 2018, held opposing batters to just five hits, while ringing up six strikeouts.

Juarez was part of a pitching staff who allowed just 15 runs during the week-long event, a mark that ranked second among all teams in action.

This past week's event marks the second competition for Juarez with Puerto Rico this summer, after the team participated in the USA Softball International Cup a week ago.

Next up, the team will travel to Japan to compete in the WBSC Women's World Championship, an event that will serve as an Olympic qualifier for the 2020 games. Fans can follow all of the action from the Sun Devil softball offseason by following @ASUSoftball on Twitter.
