The Arizona State men's golf team improved its team standing in the Goodwin in San Francisco on Friday, moving from T-19 to T-7 after round two with a 16-stroke improvement, the best of the tournament.
The Sun Devils (292-276=568) are tied with Northwestern now behind Oklahoma (279-269=548) for the tournament's lead. The five Sun Devils combined to shoot 20 strokes better than Thursday.
Sophomore Blake Wagoner shot 3-under 68 for the Devils and birdied five holes. Wagoner is 1-over after two days at TPC Harding Park.
Sophomore Chun An Yu tallied four straight birdies on holes 4-7 and added another on 15. He shot 2-under par 71 and is tied for 13th.
Koichiro Ishika bounced back form day one and notched a two-under 69.
Alex del Rey also scored better in round two, scoring a 1-under 70. He is two shots over par heading into the final day.
Mason Andersen birded 17 and shot a 3-over par 74.
The Sun Devils tee off round three at noon. paired with Northwestern and St. Mary's Saturday (March 31).
