TEMPE, Ariz. – Several alumni, faculty, and supporters were honored Wednesday night at the Arizona State University Alumni Association's annual Founders' Day Awards Dinner at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix.
Among the honorees was Sun Devil women's golf head coach and ASU alumna Missy Farr-Kaye (1990/B.S. Communication), who received the Alumni Achievement Award.
A Sun Devil through and through, Farr-Kaye has demonstrated resilience and grit both on and off the golf course. She led the Sun Devils to their nation-leading eighth NCAA title in 2017, completing a trifecta, after winning a national championship at ASU as a player (1990), an assistant coach (2009), and now a head coach.
The National Coach of the Year in 2017 from both the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) and Golfweek, she was also named Pac-12 Coach of the Year and West Region Coach of the Year.
Named the 10th head coach of the prestigious and historic ASU women's golf program in 2015, she previously served as assistant and associate head coach of her alma mater for 15 years.
Earlier in the afternoon, Farr-Kaye also shared more of her story in a talk titled "Glory and Grit" at ASU's First-Year Success Center.
The Sun Devils host the 46th annual PING/ASU Invitational at ASU Karsten golf course this weekend (Mar. 23-25). Admission and parking is free to the public and play starts at 8 am on Friday and Saturday and 7:30 am on Sunday.
