TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshmen phenoms Marleen Schimmer and Nicole Douglas have earned a place on the Pac-12 Conference All-Freshman Team, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Douglas an English national, led the team in scoring during the 2018 season, netting nine goals and carding four assists to end her freshman campaign with 22 points on the season, finishing just three points shy of cracking into the top-10 in Sun Devil Soccer history.
Douglas paced the Sun Devils through the year on offense, scoring at a rate of just under one per game. Her nine goals tied for seventh in the Pac-12.
Schimmer, a German national, checked in just behind Douglas in her offensive production this season. The talented forward scored five goals and tallied an assist to end the season with 11 points.
In one of the most important games of the season Schimmer scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in double overtime, to get ASU past Oregon, 2-1. Her two game winning goals ranked second on the squad.
This season marked the first time in program history for two players to earn Pac-12 All-Freshman team honors. The honor marks the first All-Freshman nod for a Sun Devil since Aly Moon earned a spot on the team in 2014.
