SAN FRANCISCO – After back-to-back matches with 20-plus kills and another top-15 upset, Alyse Ford was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
This is the first player of the week honor for the Sun Devils this season and the first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week since Macey Gardner won on Oct. 5, 2015. The last player of the week nod of any kind came last season when Halle Harker won Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18, 2017. For Ford, this is her first weekly honor of her career.
Ford had a match-high 25 kills on a .405 clip in the upset of No. 14 USC on Sunday, the third top-15 win for Arizona State this season. It was ASU's first win against USC since 2014. She also had a strong performance in the setback against No. 25 UCLA, collecting 23 kills.
The senior has been on another level recently. Ford is currently on a six-match double-digit kills streak. Additionally, she has four matches this year with 20-plus kills.
Colorado took both of the other weekly awards as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week was Naghede Abu and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week is Jenna Ewert. To see the full release, head to the Pac-12's website.
