TEMPE, Ariz. – After a fast and furious season with two first-place finishes and one cancelled trip, Sun Devil triathlon stays on home soil for the second straight season as Arizona State hosts the USA Triathlon Women's Collegiate National Championship in and around Tempe Town Lake on Sunday, Nov. 4.

New this year, there will be two collegiate national championship races – one for Division III/Club teams (8:45 am) and one for Division I/Division II (10:30 am), the latter of which ASU will participate in. A national champion will be crowned at each division.

Head coach Cliff English looks to lead the team to their third national championship in as many years as a program, winning in 2016 in New Orleans, La. and in 2017 in Tempe.

The Sun Devils qualified for the national championship in their first opportunity at the West Regional Qualifier in Longmont, Colo. in September, also finishing first at the East Regional Qualifier in Huddleston, Va. in October.

ASU returns all three top finishers from last year's national championship (individual champion Hannah Henry, Charlotte Ahrens, and Kyla Roy) and four of the five that finished in the top-11 (also: Rebecca Naughton-11th). The Sun Devils also add two freshmen including Audrey Ernst, the top Sun Devil finisher in Huddleston, Va. (3rd overall), and Kira Stanley, who finished just behind her in fourth at the same race. Senior Katie Gorczyca also returns for her final race after missing last year's national championship due to injury.

The morning will kick off with the second annual Ignite the Fork age group triathlon at 7 am (registration still open until Friday morning at 9 am PT). For more information and to register, visit www.TheSunDevils.com/IgnitetheFork.

There will be several road closures around the race course so fans are encouraged to park and walk across the Mill Avenue Bridge to the race site on the north side. Spectators can stand around the course as well as on the Mill Avenue Bridge.
