TEMPE, Ariz. – The NCAA announced their Three Stars of the Week for week four of the hockey season, and Sun Devil sophomore forward Johnny Walker earned the third star of the week.

Walker compiled five points over the weekend against Nebraska Omaha, featuring a four-goal performance in game two Saturday night – his first collegiate hat trick.

"It's pretty nice," Walker said in regards to the confidence boost after Saturday night. "I really didn't create too much on those. [Koumontzis] made four sweet passes and I did what I was supposed to do. There definitely wasn't anything special I did. The other four guys worked just as hard as I did."

The five-point weekend moved him into a tie for first in the country for points with Bowling Green's Max Johnson, while his four goals – which was as many as he had entering the game on the season – put him atop the country in goals scored with eight.

No Sun Devil has ever led the country in goals or points through the first four weeks of the season.

His goal-per-game average comes after finishing last season on a five-game goal streak with eight during that stretch. It then carried over into this season with goals in his first three games before a three-game skid.

His eight goals are already just shy of half the amount he totaled his freshman season (17), which finished second in the country among all freshmen goal scorers.

Walker netted his eight goal of the season last year in game No. 23 on Jan. 19.

Walker and the Sun Devils travel to State College, Penn. for a two-game series against No. 6 Penn State Nov. 2-3.
