STANFORD, Calif. – After one round of play at the 2018 Stanford Intercollegiate, No. 8 Sun Devil women's golf is currently in a tie for sixth in a closely contested race, just three strokes out of the top-three.

Individually, freshman Alexandra Försterling is the top Sun Devil, shooting a career-low 69 and in a tie for sixth. Försterling recorded five birdies on the day, two on the front nine and three on the back.

"Alexandra had a really good day," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "I am so pleased to see her break through with her first under par round in college golf. Although we left some shots on the golf course, we played very well coming down the stretch. We are learning and getting better every day."
