TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 8/10 Sun Devil women's golf team heads west for the first time in fall 2018 for the 23rd Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif.) Oct. 19-21.
The three-round, 54-hole (18 each day) event will be hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, an avid golfer and Stanford Graduate School of Business faculty member.
No. 8/10 Arizona State will be part of a 17-team field that includes four other teams ranked by either Golfweek or Golfstat including No. 1/2 UCLA, No. 12/12 Washington, No. 16/18 Northwestern, and host-No. 22 Stanford. Also included in the field are Oklahoma State, Oregon, Iowa State, Washington State, Cal, Florida State, USC, San Diego State, Denver, Harvard, Pepperdine, and San Jose State.
Stanford Golf Course, a par-71, 6,130-yd course, has hosted several intercollegiate and amateur events including Pac-12 Championships, NCAA Regionals, NCAA Women's Championships, USGA Junior Amateur Qualifying, U.S. Open Qualifying, and more.
The Sun Devils have won the tournament three times (2004, 2007, 2009) with team scores as follows:
2004 – 282-282-288, 852
2007 – 293-293-276, 862
2009 – 273-282-285, 840
This fall season, ASU has two top-two finishes as a team thus far – at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Women's Championship and Northwestern's Windy City Collegiate – while Raquel Olmos and Olivia Mehaffey have also earned top-10 finishes individually (both were named to the most recent ANNIKA Watch List this week). After this weekend, the Sun Devils will close the fall season at Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i Nov. 5-7.
