TEMPE, Ariz. – Continuing a strong connection between Sun Devil Athletics and Barrett Honors College at ASU, one of the best honors colleges in the nation, several members of the athletics department are once again members of the honors college.

Named the "Best Honors College" in the nation, the residential community has more National Merit Scholars than MIT, Duke, Brown, Stanford, or UC Berkeley.

"Barrett students who are uniformly excellent in academics are also often people who have excelled in other walks of life," said Dr. Mark Jacobs, Vice Provost and Dean of Barrett Honors College. "It frequently seems that a person who pushes for achievement in one area can carry that same drive into another.  One of those areas is athletics, and Barrett is proud of our long tradition of honors student representation on all of ASU's sports teams."

Established in 1988, Barrett boasts 7500 total students with the unweighted average incoming freshman GPA a 3.8. Incoming freshmen to the honors college have an average 1360 SAT score and 29 ACT score.

All-American swimmer Grant House agrees with Dean Jacobs saying "I chose to go into the honors college because of the resources available for students. I wanted to reach my highest academic potential and I felt like Barrett would help me to do that. There's a lot of academic potential all over the campus, but Barrett had every resource I could want or need in whatever major or field of study I want to go into."
