TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State redshirt senior quarterback Manny Wilkins is among 30 student-athletes who remain on the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award®, as announced on Friday by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Foundation.
After five weeks of play, the Golden Arm Award Selection Committee selected the remaining nominees based on player performance on-and-off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.
Wilkins holds a 98.4 NFL QB rating this season, according to Pro Football Focus, the 17th-best total among QBs with at least 300 dropbacks in the FBS. This season he has thrown for 1,224 yards and 10 touchdowns and has just one interception, tied for the fifth fewest in the country. He is currently seventh in program history with 6,661 career passing yards. His 565 career completions are good for sixth in program history while his 42 career touchdown passes are just outside ASU's all-time Top-10 in the category. Wilkins, who has accounted for 56 career touchdowns (42 passing and 14 rushing), was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's "Great 8" players for week two after completing 30-of-48 passes for a career-high 380 yards and one touchdown in ASU's upset of then-No. 15 Michigan State on Sept. 8.
Currently 3-2 (1-1 Pac-12), the Sun Devils return to action on Saturday (1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT) when they play at No. 21 Colorado (4-0, 1-0). The game can be seen on Pac-12 Network and heard on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
Tickets are currently on sale for ASU's game against No. 14 Stanford on Thurs., Oct. 18 (6 p.m.) and its Homecoming game vs. Utah on Sat., Nov. 3 (time TBA). To purchase tickets, call the Sun Devil Ticket office at 480-727-0000 or go online to TicketMaster.com.
