FORT WORTH, Texas – Four Sun Devils earned singles victories Saturday as Lauryn John-Baptiste, Savannah Slaysman, Sammi Hampton and Tereza Kolarova all came out on top against women from Notre Dame at the Big Five Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.
No. 46 John-Baptiste rebounded after her loss Friday to take down Ally Bojczuk in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Hampton and Kolarova also won in straight-sets over their opponents with Hampton recording her first win of the fall slate and her first win since 2017 as she sat out all of last season with an injury. She defeated Fighting Irish freshman Maeve Koscielski, 6-4, 6-4 for the win.
Kolarova moved to 2-0 in the fall. The first set with Rachel Chong was back and forth and went to into a tiebreak that saw the Sun Devil sophomore outlast the Notre Dame senior 7-6(3). The second set was all Kolarova, though, as she shut out Chong 6-0 to win the match.
