TEMPE – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced that it will once again team up with the Arizona State men's and women's tennis teams to present the 2018 Tempe Tennis Day.
The USTA Southwest section will also be a part of the festivities that will take place on Aug. 18, from 8-10 a.m., PDT. The event is free and open to children in the eighth grade or younger, and all levels of ability.
"We're thrilled once again to partner with the ITA and USTA to be a part of Tempe Tennis Day," Sun Devil women's tennis coach Sheila McInerney said. "To be able to give back to the community that has been so supportive of ASU tennis over the years is a privilege."
Last year's event featured more than 80 area kids partaking in fun tennis and off-court games to informally kick off the ITA Community Service Month. We had a blast at the 2nd annual #TempeTennisDay! ??

"We had great success with it last year, and the numbers will be even stronger this year," men's tennis coach Matt Hill. "We love to engage the community and we love new ways to do that, so having the ITA and USTA behind us is so crucial."
Tempe Tennis Day will include tennis-specific drills, lessons and games. Pizza will be served to all participants at the end of the event.
"Our teams look forward to being mentors and role models for the kids, and Tempe Tennis Day gives us a chance to do that," McInerney said. "We really can't wait until the 18th,"

ITA Community Service Month Overview:
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and its member schools participated in a month of service in 2017, with Limoneira serving as the national sponsor. During October, the ITA promoted its student-athletes and their service outside of the tennis court. Teams across all five divisions of college tennis participated in the Limoneira Hours Challenge, which tracked which teams completed the most service hours. RECAP .
Why an ITA Community Service Month?
"A great measure of the success of our ITA tennis programs is that they are fully embedded in the lives of their campuses and in their communities. The ITA Community Service Month Presented by Limoneira will represent the totality of the body of work of all of our ITA programs combined in giving back as true leaders." – Timothy Russell, ITA CEO
