TEMPE – The Arizona State cross country program announced its 2018 schedule that sends the Sun Devils to California and Wisconsin, as well as to a couple of meets in the Grand Canyon State, head cross country coach Jeremy Rasmussen announced Tuesday.
While a few of the meets from last year's schedule have been carried over to 2018, second-year head coach Rasmussen has revamped the season slate with trips to the Stanford Invitational in September and Mark Covert Classic to open the season.
The nation will get their first look at the new-look Devils at the Mark Covert Classic in Fullerton, California on Sept. 1. It's their first of four trips to the Golden State, including the aforementioned Stanford Invitational and two post-season events.
This season's Pac-12 Championships will be hosted by Stanford and will be live streamed and broadcast on the Pac-12 Network for the second year in-a-row on Oct. 26. The Sun Devils will head back to Northern California two weeks later for the NCAA West Regional Championships where the top-two finishing teams will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, Nov. 17.
ASU will head to the Regional Championships hoping to punch a return ticket to Madison as the Devils will have already headed to Wisconsin once before then for the Pre-Nationals Invitational on October 13. That meet is expected to be one of the deepest fields outside of the postseason anywhere in the country and will be a solid test for the Sun Devils before they close out the regular season at the ASU Invitational the following week.
