TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State junior center Cohl Cabral has been named to the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's most outstanding center.

The Rimington Trophy is named for Dave Rimington, a two-time consensus all-American with Nebraska and College Football Hall of Fame Inductee. Rimington is the only player to ever win the Outland Trophy twice, an award given to the country's top offensive or defensive lineman.

Cabral started all 13 games for the Sun Devils last season at left tackle, and has now been moved to center under new head coach Herm Edwards. Cabral is known for utilizing his leverage with a low pad level and his quickness and footwork allows him to move well laterally.

Last season, Cabral anchored an offensive-line that helped the Sun Devil run blocking scheme improve to the 34th highest graded group in the country according to PFF, after ranking 69th in 2016. He was a mainstay on an offensive line that helped Demario Richard record a 1,000-yard season.

Cabral is one of 57 players to be nominated for the award, along with nine others from the PAC-12. The 10 Pac-12 honorees are the most of any conference.

The winner will be chosen from a consensus all-American named by the Walter Camp Foundation, the Sporting News, and the Football Writers Association of America. The winner will be announced January 12, 2019 in Garden City Park, New York.
