SAN FRANCISCO – The Sun Devil women's track and field program landed seven women on the Pac-12 First-Team All-Academic list to lead the conference, and Grant Sisserson earned a first-team honor on the men's side, the conference announced Thursday.
Of the four women competing in Eugene today at the NCAA Championships, three earned first team honors while one grabbed an honorable mention place.
Kaylee Antill ended her academic year with a 4.07 GPA, Samantha Noennig earned a 3.96 and graduate transfer and master's student Alethia Marrero wrapped up her first year as a Sun Devil with a 3.89. All three will compete later today in the hammer throw, shot put and 800-meter run, respectively. Ewen, the final Sun Devil entrant Thursday, picked up an honorable mention honor along with six other Sun Devils.
Rounding out the women's first team was senior pole vaulters Haleigh Fritts and Kristiana Warth, Alexis Nichols and Alexandra Williams. Megan Reniewicki was ASU's sole second-team honoree and Billie Jo Dytrt, Melanie Johnson, Courtnee Oglesby, Samantha Ortega, Anna Pruter and Darreyl Woodson all made the honorable mention team.
On the men's side, Sisserson's first year in Tempe saw him finish with a 3.87 GPA become the men's squad's only representative on this year's first-team list.
Another pole vaulter in Matthew Eckles picked up second-team honors, and two seniors in Mason Ford and Khalil Parris scored honorable mention honors.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
