PHOENIX – Sun Devil Baseball dropped the second game of its series against Washington, 7-3, on Saturday evening to set up a rubber match on Sunday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Hunter Jump notched his first career home run on Saturday and Lyle Lin finished 3-for-4 as ASU was able to out-hit the Huskies, 12-8, but couldn't bring across the runs when it needed them with nine stranded runners in the contests.

Spencer Torkelson extended his on-base streak to 29 consecutive games with a late double. The freshman almost had home run number 23 for the season in the fourth inning on what would have been a three-run shot to get ASU back in the game that unfortunately came up just shy of clearing the fence on the warning track.

The Sun Devil pitching staff struggling with its control all evening, allowing eight walks in the game despite not allowing a hit in the final five innings of action.

Washington scored the first six runs of the game, three of which coming on a two-out first pitch home run in the top of the third after a Sun Devil pitching change.

Jump continued his recent tear with his first career home run to get ASU on the board in the fourth inning, a two-run shot to right field after a Lyle Lin single to bring ASU back within 6-2.

ASU had its best chance to cut the gap from there, putting two on with two outs for Torkelson but his loud out that took the left fielder back to the fence but didn't have quite enough to get out of the park and make it a one-run game.

UW tacked on another run in the seventh but ASU responded immediately with a Gage Canning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to keep the game within four runs.

ASU was unable to close the distance from there, however, setting up tomorrow's rubber match for the series at 12:30 p.m.
