TEMPE, Ariz. – The Alliance of American Football introduced Alliance Phoenix as its fifth franchise of the designed eight-team league beginning in February 2019. The new franchise will play its home games at Sun Devil Stadium, bringing professional football back to Tempe for the first time since 2005.

"The return of professional football to Sun Devil Stadium is a monumental moment for the city of Tempe, Arizona State University and our vision for Stadium 365," said Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson. "We welcome the Alliance of American Football with open arms and look forward to providing a brand new, world-class facility for them to compete beginning February 2019."

"Bringing professional football back to Tempe at our reinvented Sun Devil Stadium furthers the goal of the ASU 365 Community Union that will transform a stadium once used only a few days a year into a dynamic cultural hub with events and activities 365 days a year," said ASU Vice President for Cultural Affairs Colleen Jennings-Roggensack.

The other four cities include Salt Lake City, Orlando, Memphis and Atlanta. The AAF announced former UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel as the head coach for Alliance Phoenix.
