CORVALLIS – Gage Canning posted another three-hit game but Sun Devil Baseball came up just short in 6-5 loss at No. 5 Oregon State on Sunday in Corvallis.

Gage Canning posted his 10th game of the season with three or more hits, marking the second consecutive season he has done so.  He became the first Sun Devil player to accomplish the feat in back-to-back seasons since Brett Wallace did it in 2007 and 2008.

Canning finished 3-for-5 on the day with two RBIs. Taylor Lane also added two hits in the contest while Spencer Torkelson drew a bases loaded RBI walk and had two walks on the day to move to 31 on the season, good for fourth in the Pac-12.

Eli Lingos had another gutsy performance, keeping the Sun Devils in the game in his 7.0 innings, striking out two in the loss.

ASU got on the board first in the first on Lyle Lin's RBI single  - his fifth RBI in the last two games – before Oregon State threw up four unanswered runs in the first three innings.

The Sun Devils came storming back in the fourth behind Torkelson's RBI walk and Canning's two-RBI single to make it 4-4.

ASU reclaimed the lead in the sixth on Hunter Jump's RBI double with two outs to go up, 5-4.

Oregon State was able to tag Lingos for two runs in his final inning of action to go back on top, 6-5, a lead that ASU was unable to overcome.

The Sun Devils will have two weekends at home in the coming weeks, taking on Washington next weekend in a three-game Pac-12 series beginning Friday. ASU will travel to San Diego for a midweek game before hosting Pacific for a two-game set the following weekend.
