OKLAHOMA CITY -  Sophomore pitcher G Juarez was tabbed as one of the 25 finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, as announced on Wednesday.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award enters its 17th season and recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.

The Top 25 list includes nine seniors, nine juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen, representing 17 universities and eight conferences. The Top 10 finalists will be named on May 9, with the Top 3 announced on May 23. The POY will be revealed on May 29.

Juarez, a native of Glendale, Ariz., has powered the Sun Devils in the circle this season. Juarez enters the week with a 19-3 record on the season that includes a pair of wins over then No. 1 Washington, as well as a win against No. 3 Oregon. The left hander has amassed an incredible 232 strikeouts this season, a mark that ranks first in the Pac-12 and sixth-nationally.

Juarez has maintained the nation's tenth-best ERA this season, 0.88, a feat made that much more impressive when considering Juarez has played five games against teams ranked in the top-20 in scoring.

Juarez and the Sun Devils will continue Pac-12 play this weekend with a trip to Utah. ASU's road series will kick off Friday with a 4:00 p.m. PT first pitch followed by game two of the series Saturday at 1:00 p.m. PT. The three-game set will conclude Sunday at 11:00 a.m. before the Sun Devils will head to to New Mexico to take on New Mexico State in a Tuesday doubleheader.
