TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 7 Sun Devil softball team (33-6, 7-3 Pac-12) fell to the No. 7 Oregon Ducks, 5-0, Friday night at Farrington Stadium.

Despite the loss, sophomore G Juarez threw another strong outing for the Sun Devils ringing up five Oregon batters, while giving up just two earned runs. Juarez's five Ks brings her to a total 206 on the season, placing her at No. 16 in the Sun Devil record book for single season strikeouts.

"I think she made a few mistakes and she would be the first to tell you that," head coach Trisha Ford said of Juarez's outing. "She still threw well and we have got to do a better job putting up runs for her. She made some big pitches when we needed her to make some big pitches and she is going to learn from this. I am excited to see what she is going to look like her next time in the circle. I think she is going to respond really well. I have a lot of faith in her."

First baseman Danielle Gibson recorded two of the three hits for the Sun Devils in Friday's game. The freshman now has 15 multi-hit games to her name this season.

The first four innings of the ballgame remained scoreless as lefty phenom G Juarez struck out five Oregon batters and the Sun Devil defense only allowed one hit. The Ducks put the first points on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth with two hits to go up 2-0.

Oregon tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth and another in the top of the seventh to secure their win.

The Sun Devils will continue the three-game series with the Ducks, with first pitch in gme two slated for 6:00 p.m. Saturday night. The game will be streamed live on thesundevils.com.
