TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil softball team (18-2) defeated Georgetown in a 13-0 run-rule victory Wednesday evening at Farrington Stadium. The game marked the eighth consecutive win for Arizona State and their fourth straight shutout victory.

Left fielder Nichole Chilson paced the Sun Devils at the plate, with a three-run homerun and a two-RBI single in her two at-bats of the night. It was the senior's third homerun of the season, and marked her first game with five RBI and her second multi-hit game this season.

"I think yesterday I maybe got away from my plan a little bit," Chilson said of her night at the plate. "I think I was a little anxious, but today I was back to seeing strikes and staying confident. I was calm at the plate and I think things are working for me. I just need to keep doing what I am doing and having fun out there."

The Sun Devil offense wasted no time putting runs on the board, creating a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Chilson's three-run homerun.

The offensive momentum did not slow down as the bats came to life again in the bottom of the third. ASU added seven more runs for a 10-0 lead, with hits coming from Jade Gortarez, Morgan Howe, Chilson, Skylar McCarty, Taylor Becerra, and a triple from Kindra Hackbarth, the Sun Devils secured their first double-digit run scoring game since May 6, 2017.

Howe added a homerun in the bottom of the fourth, her fourth of the season, and Brianna "Breezy" Wise tripled to bring Rylee Maston home. Wise scored on a wild pitch for a 13-0 Arizona State lead headed in to the top of the fifth.

In the circle, senior Dale Ryndak struck out two Hoya batters and only allowed one hit to keep the visiting team scoreless through her three and a third innings played. Sophomore Alyssa Loza entered in relief of Ryndak and completed the shutout for the Sun Devils. She struck out three batters and didn't allow any hits, throwing 17 strikes on just 20 pitches in the game.
