The Arizona State lacrosse team (5-5) heads to the Bay Area this weekend to continue Pac-12 play with Stanford and California. It will mark the first time in program history that the Sun Devils have faced either team. The Sun Devils will play the No. 19 Cardinal in Palo Alto on Friday, March 23 at 7 p.m. in Cagen Stadium. The team then travels north to Berkeley to take on the Golden Bears on Sunday, March 25 at noon. The Sun Devils will look to find their first conference win in program history while hoping to end a four-game losing streak. Both games with be broadcasted live on the schools' respective Pac-12+ livestreams. 

Quick Sticks 

  • Junior co-captain Kerri Clayton ranks ninth in the nation for goals scored through 10 games with 32. 
  • Freshman midfiedler Maddy Hunter is tied for fourth in the nation in total ground balls with 36 and is 14th in ground balls per game (3.60).
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau sits at third in the nation for total saves through 10 games with 97.
  • Clayton leads the conference in goals and is second in points with 41 (32 goals, 9 assists).
  • All 32 eligible players have seen playing time this season.

Scouting the Opposition 
Stanford: The No. 19 Cardinal are coming off a huge 21-5 win over California. Kelsey Murray scored six goals in the first half for the Cardinal to give them a comfortable 13-3 lead at halftime. Dillon Schoen recorded a hat trick while two other players each posted two goals. Defensively, goalkeeper Allie DaCar posted seven saves and picked up three ground balls. Murray is now Stanford's all-time leading scorer with 165 career goals. She also holds a school record with 259 career points, including a team-high 34 (17 goals, 17 assists) this season. 

Cal: The Golden Bears are coming off a tough loss to Stanford last weekend, dropping their third straight game. Of the five goals by the Bears offense, Nikki Zaccaro scored two of them. Meredith Haggerty recorded seven draw controls while Elizabeth Koehler picked up five draws and four ground balls. At the halfway point of the season, Kristen Swanson is the leading scorer for the Bears with 23 points on 18 goals and 5 assists. 

Last Time Out
The Sun Devils had a tough three-game swing in five games, dropping games to conference foes, Oregon and Colorado, over the weekend and most recently falling in a Tuesday night non-conference contest with the visiting Liberty Flames. Against the Flames, junior co-captain Kerri Clayton led the Sun Devil offense with two goals to bring her season total to 32 to continue pacing the Pac-12. Freshman attacker Kate Dougherty and midfielders Maddy Hunter and Emily Glagolev posted the three other Sun Devil goals. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau led the effort with 14 saves, her second-most saves in a single game. Bonneau and Hunter led the Sun Devils in ground balls with three each. The Sun Devil defense also caused eight Flames turnovers.
