TEMPE, Ariz. - The Sun Devil softball team (23-4, 1-1 Pac-12) dropped a tough game to the top-ranked Washington Huskies, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

"We didn't play a clean game today," head coach Trisha Ford said. "Those mistakes are what cost us today. I thought we came out the right way in the first inning, but when they put up a four-spot in the second I talked to them about responding. I think we are capable offensively to put runs up, but I expect better out of them."

After dropping game-one, 2-0, The Huskies got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the top of the second inning. They added one in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the seventh to total seven runs in the game.

In the circle, Breanna Macha pitched six innings for the Sun Devils, striking out three Husky batters. Offensively, Kindra Hackbarth, Jade Gortarez and Danielle Gibson all recorded hits for Arizona State.

"For me I am excited to see how we will respond," Ford added. "To me it is very important to see how we come out and play tomorrow and what our bubble looks like. From pitching to hitting to how we look defensively, we took a punch today and we will see how we respond tomorrow. I think we will get back up and get after it."

The Sun Devils will look to take the series against the Huskies in the final game of the three-game set Monday afternoon at Farrington Stadium. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m. MST and will determine the winner of the series after the 1-1 split. The game will be broadcasted live on the Pac-12 Network with Daron Sutton and Natasha Watley on the final call of the series.
